What is the Cloud?

Cloud computing is the practice of using the Internet to store and manage information.

Why are we moving to the Cloud?

This will allows us to maximize the catalogue services we provide to you in the most efficient, reliable and cost-effective manner.

How will the move to the Cloud affect me?

Most of our services will continue, as usual during the move, including:

  • Check in and Check out
  • Renewing material
  • Fulfilling holds
  • Getting a new card
  • Paying fines and fees

A few of our services will be unavailable, including:

  • Searching the catalogue
  • Placing new holds
  • Email notification
  • Accessing My Account
  • Renewing your library card

When is this happening?

The move will begin the morning of Monday, April 17. We expect to be fully operational on April 20.

Will the Library be open?

Yes, aside from the Easter Monday closure (April 17), the Library will operate with regular hours.

Will I still get my holds?

Yes, your holds will be available as usual, but we won't be able to send you an email notification during the move. We will extend the pickup period for holds until Tuesday, April 25.

Will I be able to use online resources like OverDrive and Zinio?

Yes, however, there may be a few brief disruptions during the move.
